Nutrition, Benefits of the ITC WIC Program, Foods

The Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. has made it our goal to provide you with the best possible nutrition education for you and your families health. We offer beneficial nutrional counseling and foods for you, your infant and young children.


Nutrition Education:
The Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. WIC staff will provide you with one-on-one nutrition counseling and information on:
     • What foods are good for you and why
     • How to properly feed your infant and child
     • Health information and consumer education

 At the appointment, ITC WIC completes an individual nutrition assessment which may include:
     •  Height/Weight/Hemoglobin Check
     • Completion of a Nutrition “Menu” which has nutrition questions/concerns for each age group

This information is used to help you understand the importance of good nutrition for the total health of your family. The WIC Educators will be happy to answer any questions you may have concerning you or your child’s nutritional concerns

Referrals for Health care:
Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. WIC can provide you with referrals for health care or other programs in the area for whatever you may need. If we don't have it, we will find it.



Benefits You Will Receive From WIC

Women and Children will receive:
• Low-fat Milk
• Cheese
• Cereal high in Iron
• Eggs
• Juice high in Vitamin C
• Dried or Canned beans/peas
• Peanut Butter
• Whole grain breads or whole grain food items
• Fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables
.

Infants will receive:
• Iron fortified formula
• Infant cereal
• Infant fruits and vegetables
• Infant meats
