Breastfeeding Education:
Our WIC staff will provide you with breastfeeding education and help moms supply the best source of nutrition for their infant. We at Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. WIC know that "Mama's Milk Does a Baby Good." Nursing aids are available for all our moms who choose to breastfeed. |

Breastfeeding Peer Counselor(s) Provide:
Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. WIC has a breastfeeding peer counselor on staff. She can help our breastfeeding moms with any questions or concerns. Our breastfeeding peer counselor has breastfed and is trained to help women learn to breastfeed.
• Valuable breastfeeding information and information to promote breastfeeding.
• Counsel pregnant and breastfeeding mothers on a one-to-one basis to help them avoid breastfeeding problems.
• Provide support and information to breastfeeding mothers who may need help and/or advice to help them to continue breastfeeding while working or going to school.
• Counsel new mothers in the hospital upon request.
• Counsel and follow-up with moms by phone contact, if necessary.
Breast Pumps:
Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. WIC can provide breast pumps to moms who are on the program and who are exclusively breastfeeding their infant for one month. The infant will not be able to receive formula for one month after the breast pump has been issued.
In addition to breast pumps we provide:
Breast Pads, Supplemental Nursing Systems, Storage Bottles, Lanolin Cream, Nipple Shields, and Books.

Know Your Rights! It's the Law!
• Employers shall provide reasonable break time and a private place for an employee to express breast milk for her
nursing child for one year after the child's birth. (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law March 23, 2010 (P.L.111-148)
• Mothers in Oklahoma have the right to nurse their baby anywhere they have the right to be.
• Nursing mothers shall be exempt from jury duty upon their request. |
